Today Siófok is the capital of Lake Balaton, one of the most important tourist centres in Hungary. It has been made capital by its high level public transport, the several sculptures and monuments placed on public squares, the beautiful parks with blooming flowers and its shallow shore offering safe bathing to holiday-makers. The town 106 km far from Budapest can be easily reached by rail, road or air from every direction.

From Budapest airport to the railway station:
From the airport you can go to either Keleti railway station or to Déli railway station, by taxi or by Airport Minibus (9 euros per person) or use public transport. An airport bus takes you to the nearest blue metro terminal Kobánya Kispest, then you must change to the red metro line in Deák tér).

Hotel Magistern (Siófok, Beszédes József sétány 72) can be reached by bus no 2 from the bus station next to the railway station) or by taxi (about 5 euros).
